Week 4 on the Way. 1s and 3s face long drive. 2s and 4s at Fulking.
At last the weather forecast for our region is promising on Saturday which hopefully means no disruption! It’s been a tough opening salvo to our League campaign where rain has spoilt a lot of what we have tried to do. There again we haven’t really helped ourselves with just one victory from the 7 possible chances. With all our teams at the wrong end of their respective leagues this Saturday represents a massive chance to pick up our 1st 2021 clean sweep and hopefully the press officer will get to report the1st league ton!
For inspiration I am in the Sharks Stand for the opening day against Northamptonshire. Hopefully Sussex can get off to a flying start!
Dan Ps 1st team go to Hastings 11.30 start Sussex Prem
The team will want to quickly brush aside our loss last week and make a solid performance in East Sussex.
Our hosts have a similar record to us. A win a loss and a rain out. Their win came at Middleton where Sussex ex pro Harry Finch scored 65 up top and Barton took 3 wickets in an easy victory.
They then lost against Three Bridges when the skilled and talented Finch was bowled for just 5 runs.
On paper, with both teams looking to cement their place in the top half of the table, it’s looking like a humdinger!
Twos on Home Soil v Bognor. 12 mid day
Our twos were involved in a hot match against Burgess Hill last week when the heavens opened. Skipper James M will hopefully look for more batting success against Regis.
Our visitors have been the surprise package! It was thought that Mayfield and Horsham would be leading the way. But with three wins it’s Bognor who top the table. Ryan Maskell and Nicholas Ballamy have scored a shed load of runs up top and Ben Woolnough and Mike Harris are in the wickets.
Let’s hope James can utilise the mix of experience youth and home soil to stop Bognor in their tracks!
Third team travel to Dormansland Div 6 1.30 start
Our hosts are struggling for a bit of form after 2 losses and two rain affected games. They are, like our 3rd team looking for a quick rise up the table.
Alex Pelling catches the eye with a 94 earlier in the season.
We require a win and quickly.
4s Entertain Copthorne. Div 8 1.30 South Square
Copthorne will travel south in great heart after 2 recent wins and 2nd in the table. Niton Ohja scored 93 recently with Mendes and Shah amongst the wickets.
Our 4th team are in for another stern test.
There you have it. Four great chances to get some major points on those tables. The Press officer is deliberating over Hastings or Dormansland. I want to see our threes in league action but love watching cricket in Hastings, plus want to watch Harry Finch in full flow. Please keep tuned to the group WhatsApp site and club twitter site for updates.
Good luck to all connections on Saturday
