Our 2026 U15s team under Manager Ralph Scrase have good history in this competition reaching the area finals as U13s.  The current team got off to great start tonight at rainy Burgess Hill (Berrylands). Luckily heavy rain eventually gave way to a splendid evening as the sun shone over Mid Sussex.  Hill won the toss and slung us in.  That worked a treat in the 1^st over as Nomads lost a quick wicket.  But Harry and Tom didn’t panic to build a winning platform.

Scrase (41 retired) and Close-Brooks (37) played the perfect counterattack both going over a 170 strike rate.  82 for 2 became 83 for 5 as Kirbyshire ( BH spinner) took three for three.  However, Freddie Brookfield (44 n.o) broke the hosts resolve with two massive sixes as he smashed his team into a near impregnable position 167 off the 16 overs on offer.

Davis-King and Bunday bowled with pace and accuracy as Hill got off to a very steady start.  M Thomas (28) batted very well including a wonderful backfoot drive for four.  H Spilsted kept the inns moving right to the last ball.  Eddie Spence took three wickets the team 4 great catches as Hill ran out of overs. Nomads winning by 57 runs.

Bowman says ‘Huge thanks to BH for hosting and good luck for the season. Our U15s kept that positive early season Nomad momentum rolling tonight with a clinical display in damp chilly conditions.  They certainly supplied that feel-good factor to start an exciting weekend to come. You guys can park the ECB for a while and concentrate on the league. Skipper Harry takes MOM with a match turning inns up top’
