U15s Do Themselves and Nomads Proud in ECB Bow.
Our U15s, under the guidance Julian Musto, had been sweeping all aside in the 2021 ECB U15s Cup competition with the highlight coming at Blackstone when they beat Middleton to become Sussex Champs.
Their reward was an engaging tie against Kent Champs Tunbridge Wells at the SCMG South Square last evening (16/7/2021). The visitors won the toss and elected to bat.
T Paice and F Glass proved a little to hot to handle as both players went to the half century and retired. Glass with a superb straight six towards the clubhouse. Tunbridge Wells progress to an imposing 169 started poorly as Cam H (2 for 31 off 4) got his 1st wicket after 2 balls. At 23 for 2 Nomads were right in the hunt. However Paice and Glass helped by 26 extra’s made it relatively comfortable evening.
In reply A Eaton 32 and Nomads MoM skipper J Musto (50 and retired) batted extremely well and for moments around the 14 over mark there were encouraging signs especially as the hosts dropped some catches. Our boys did well to make 127. Hopefully you caught an interview with the skipper on Whattsapp last evening.
Its the end of the 2021 ECB Cup road for our U15s but they can be proud of their achievements especially in the knowledge that all Nomad members were right behind them. Chairman Paul Hird said ‘Great effort, well done to both the U13s and U15s for progressing so far’
