Our U13s under Managers Ralph and Rupert were in no mood to let a good opportunity slip through their hands when taking the field against Heathfield in last evenings semifinal. The game was won and lost in the devastating opening onslaught.  Cuckfield await in the final.

In what can only be described as fantastic weather at the SCMG our boys were asked to bat in the 20 over match.  Skipper J Scorey and keeper O Hewitt went big from the 1st ball scoring no less than a dozen fours between them. The score racing to 86 for 1.

Heathfield never lost heart or composure in the field with Y Callan top bowling 33 for 2 off his 4 overs.  He also produced the champagne moment of the match.  In front of the massed away support, he took a brilliant catch to a huge roar and enthusiastic round of applause.

However, it was the Nomads who kept turning the key as B Corney and J Humby scored another six boundaries as the hosts settled on 192 for 4.

Drinks served.

In something the boys will need to sharpen up on Heathfield got off to a flyer themselves.  However, it was the extra’s column that blossomed.  53 in total.

The result though was never in doubt with the Nomads taking 5 great catches and 2 stunning run outs.  Scrace the pick 2 overs two for one. The visitors lasted 20 overs and finished on 90 for 4.

The Captain and man of the match spoke to the press he said  ‘that was a good team performance and it was good fun batting with Oli.  With the bat I felt we showed a lot of intention. We can now look forward to the final on Friday evening’

Huge congrats to Heathfield for making the semi final and thanks for turning out in big numbers at the SCMG you guys did your club proud.  Nomads can now look forward Friday nights glittering Sussex finals night at Blackstone 6pm ko.  Please make a date and turn out in force.

One other thing a huge thanks to the back-room staff ie scorers, bar/ground staff who make these things tick. We couldn’t do it with out you!
