U13s Fall Just Short in Indoor Finals
The U13s indoor team unfortunately fell just short of victory in the winter indoor league finals on Sunday. Despite their best efforts, they were sadly beaten by a strong Felbridge and Sunnyside team.
After winning the toss and deciding to bat they started off well, with some confident batting against some tall and fast bowlers from Felbridge. Thanks to a great all round team effort, they were able to reach a solid total of 138 in their 10 overs. Captain William Dale (36), Lewis Cox (28), and Sonny Forsythe (31) all retiring early on and our excellent running between wickets kept the fielding side on their toes. Unfortunately, Felbridge’s batting proved too strong and put pressure on our bowling and fielding, they were ultimately able to reach the target with a few overs to spare. Congratulations to Felbridge and Sunnyside on an excellent win.
The earlier match against Horsham to qualify for the final was an absolute epic and added a few more grey hairs to the family members watching on. In a nail-biting game, Nomads chose to field first after winning the toss, Horsham batted well and set us a total of 138, losing only one wicket. In response, Lewis (32*), William (27*), and Sonny (26*) again all reached retirement before Theo, Aedan, and Anton all contributed runs in the second half of the innings with some great running between wickets. Ultimately, Nomads were able to secure the victory in the second last ball of the game with Aedan and Lewis combining at the end to hit the winning runs.
Congratulations to all the boys on reaching the final, they should all be immensely proud of their efforts and the character and spirit they displayed throughout the competition. Every member of the team contributed some fantastic performances over the course of the competition, and it was a pleasure to watch them play. We’re all looking forward to a great season to come and have a feeling this won’t be the last time we come across this Felbridge side this season.
