Threes Have a Big Opportunity, Ones Complete Bensons Double, Woe and Scare For Twos, Fours in 10 Wicket Loss. Lets Review 27th August 2022.
Baalaaj Stars in Important Threes Home Victory. Div 7. 40 overs a side.
Our Threes under the effervescent leadership of Faisal Khan got top billing in this week’s preview and they didn’t disappoint. Brighton 3s and our Threes were in the hunt for Div 7 promotion, and it seemed that a win was imperative to enhance the chances of both teams. The Bensons slung us in on the South Square.
Khan and Appleton (31) battled well up top, but it was Baalaaj Khan who rubber stamped an excellent league season with a match defining 81 including a dozen fours and a 6 in just 75 balls. Adam Rowland (31) put the finishing touches to a very respectable inns of 211 all out.
In reply Martyn Ford might have been thinking it was his day getting a good start up top. However, a great catch from English stopped him on 22. After that Brighton had that sinking feeling as wickets tumbled. Old stager David Symes completed the demolition with three for 27 as the visitors fell for 85 runs. 30 vital points to the Nomads.
Faisal gave his thoughts on whattsapp last night. ‘A complete professional performance!’ High praise from the skipper!
Promotion isn’t done by a long chalk just yet. With the final Saturday to come we travel to mid table Dormansland while Brighton entertain bottom club Southwick. We are 8 points ahead but you feel that we will require a further win to get us over the line.
Ones Win at the Nevill! Sussex Prem. 50 overs a side.
It was a very good day in the office for Nav and his squad at the Nevill as they picked up a Bensons double and assigned them into the irreversible relegation spots (only the post season stewards table can prevent them from going down). Poole, Ward and Ibrahim all batted well up top then Cannon and Afridi top score 45 (who is coming into form for the T20 final!) took the score to 233 all out.
Birrell and Patel took out the Bensons top order for virtually nothing and then Kash bowled the only real danger in Adam Mates who made 58. Will Collard took three for 13 as Brighton’s ill-fated season continued. 118 all out.
Our 1st team will go into the last League game on Saturday at home to Bognor in full cry and will be looking to finish the Sussex Prem with a bang!
Twos Suddenly in Trouble in Division Three! 45 overs a side.
Polgrove awaits a Relegation Thriller 3/9/2022
Regular readers will know that we have been calling the closeness and competitive nature of Division 3 East all season. It’s been a case that anyone can beat anyone and perhaps promotion and indeed relegation being decided on the last day. Unfortunately, for skipper James M and his team its not the top of the table we are eying. After three straight losses from four we are now in a desperate race for survival on Saturday.
James Amor took out took out the Glynde top order for next to nothing and made a stunning run out as the visitors struggled. Felix Mansour also stood out with three for 14 as Glynde stuttered to 100 all out.
For the 2nd time this month the Twos batting line up seemed to crumble under pressure as only Nomads Legend Owen Kernan 32 not out put up any resistance. A miserable 78 all out !
There is no point in dwelling on the might or could have been’s as James and his team head to Bexhill on Saturday for a relegation showdown. There are 8 points between the teams and its winner takes all!
Fours Soundly beaten at Portslade. Div 8 40 overs a side.
Darren Hick used all his experience to top score 23 from 45 balls as we were bowled for 80 runs. Cook and Ridge neatly saw to that none down in just 7 overs.
Stephen and the 4s host Bolney on Saturday to finish off their Division 8 campaign
Bowman says ‘ we have got one hell of the weekend to come ! Our Show Case Sussex T20 Finals at Hove will naturally be the highlight ( More to come on that later in the week), but we have two stand out and influential League matches to concentrate on first. The Threes at Dormansland gunning for promotion, the Twos at Bexhill battling relegation. The weather forecast is looking good for both venues. I have a decision to make will it be north or east for me??? Send me your thoughts on whattsapp!
Lets Go Nomads !!!
