Preston Nomads 2022 Junior Awards Nite. Bowmans Notes 3rd September 2022.
Press Officers Nomad 2022 Junior Player of the Season to be announced on the night!
Hello to all our Youth Section connections as we approach the Show Case awards ceremony at the SCMG on Saturday evening. I hope that you all have a great time there at our fantastic home facility.
As you will know the evening comes as part of a massive weekend here at the club. On Saturday our four Senior teams play their last Sussex League game of the season. Its with certainty that some of you will be playing in these games!. The Ones and Fours are at home while the Twos travel to Bexhill and the Threes travel to Dormansland. On Sunday both the Ones and Twos are to compete in the Sussex T20 Cup and Trophy Finals at Hove. Its going to be very exciting!
You guys have had an outstanding season full of great results and top-class performances. A full report is to come later in the year. The highlights include both our U13s and U15s winning on ECB Sussex Finals nite at Blackstone. Both squads were focused and energised, and it was a very proud occasion for everyone at the club. The U13s went on to beat Bromley and progress to the ECB regional finals at Teddington.
I have said this before, but there has never been a better time to be a young Sussex cricketer who wants to earn some County Honours. Sussex CCC are currently investing heavily in our local young talent and aren’t afraid, when the time is right, to hand out 1st team debuts. Just look at the young Sussex stars who have been operating and thriving during the current season. Nomads are currently blessed with a number of talented rising stars and given the correct work ethic, application and attitude there is no reason why some of you can’t be playing at Hove in the years to come.
Huge congratulations and thanks are directed towards our Team of Managers who diligently look after you all. It’s a tough task given the amount of work that needs to be done both during the season and the off season. I would also very much like to heap some massive praise on your Director of Junior Cricket , Navin Patel. Nav if you are reading, I know that the players are loving your work and the parents really appreciate to technical advice and training you extend to the members. What ever your doing with this section please, keep doing it!
On a different tangent, on more than several occasions oppositions have said to me that our youngsters are not only great cricketers but are also very polite and well mannered. It was lovely to hear such comments. That is a massive credit to you all not just in the sporting arena but in life in general. Keep that up and you wont go far wrong !!
I will be at Bexhill on Saturday following our Two’s relegation battle in Division Three East so it’s probable that I won’t be present at the SCMG. However, while its been a tough choice given the talent around here I have decided on the Press Officers Junior Player of the Season. That person will be revealed through our Media channels on the night. So, stand by for that!
The 2022 Cricket Season has gone around in a flash. I hope you have enjoyed the last few months and lastly ‘winter well’!
