24 Golfers teed it up for the Annual Nomads Golf day at Mid Sussex Golf Course near Burgess Hill. In keeping with the summer, we are having the action took place under sunny skies with warm temperatures. There was a relaxed and informal start to the day with bacon rolls and a comfortable sit down and catch up on the terrace.
As tee times approached there was ‘some’ movement to the practice areas but others took a more languid approach to their rounds. In perhaps the most competitive of four balls The Smiths (Jeremy and Marcus) took on the Appleton’s (Joey and Luke). With money changing hands online both pairs were neck and neck teeing off at the par 3 15th. While Marcus had kept his team afloat it was Jeremy who bought home the bacon and bragging rights winning three out of the final four holes. Both Paul Hird and I both owe AOB on losing bets!!
Your Chairman, Paul Hird is a fine player who drove like God all morning. He and guest Ben Cross staved off the strong challenge of myself and Threes star Jamie Patrick as we shook hands on the 17th Green.
It was an individual Stableford competition and Phil managed to keep cool, calm and collected (Cannon!) to shoot 38 points and walk off with the trophy. Huge congrats to Phil
The star of the show was Mid Sussex Golf Course which despite a long drought was looking and playing in superb fashion. Many thanks to the staff for looking after us.
Event organiser Phil ‘Bubble’ Standen said thank you to all the competitors and he hopes to make the Nomads 2023 Golf Day even bigger.
