Opening 2026 League Programme Round Up! 9th and 10th May 2026
One’s Thump the Champions, Two’s Win at Bolney, Threes win a derby Stunner, Fours Go Down Fighting at Felbridge
Before getting into the action just a few general observations if I may. Firstly, huge congratulations to Ian P and his staff for some monumental work around the SCMG. On arrival yesterday morning ahead of our exciting curtain raiser the ground sparkled in mint condition. I was a very proud Nomad! Then that north wicket looked a belter with controlled bounce and enough there for both batter and bowler. Then inside Phil has set the bar high once again with ‘Langers’. His range of tasty snacks and beverages knows no bounds. Lastly, we all seem to be singing from the same song sheet and there is an all-around buzz about the place. Our Ones took the time to come over to Bolney which was great to see, and it was lovely as we took the place over.
Nomads is the place to be this summer let’s go do great things!
Ones Thrash Horsham on the North. Prem.
Nav was looking for his team to set the tone early and he led by example. Returning AOB got the party started with a nervy catch just three balls in. Nav then produced a ‘seed’ to rattle top of off as Iqbal went 1st ball. Horsham 10 for 3 never recovered as Nav went on the rampage five for 28.
Openers Dan and Archie calmly knocked off the 70 required for a statement opening 30 points.
Nav and the boys are off to Bridges on Saturday.
Twos Win at Bolney Div 2
This was the Match of the Day please see separate report. Suffice to say our Twos were brilliant on the day. Two’s grace to North on Saturday against Brighton 1s. Should be tense !
Threes win Stunner on the South Div 6 Central
It was all smiles at the SCMG as our local rivals ‘the Benson’s’ were beaten late in the day. In a match that had everything Nomads chased a whopping 278 with just one ball to spare. There must have been bedlam when Walid Iqbal smashed the winning six, 9 wickets down. Well done to Skipper Faisal.
There was no hint of the drama to come as Brighton 3s made a great start. Jack Elliot scored 80 up top. But the hosts plugged away and have to be credited with a vast improvement on the extra’s count. If they continue on giving just 9% or improving that figure our threes will be very competitive in 2026. William Dale was perhaps the pick bowling nicely 7 overs one for just 29.
He then went on to open and put his team bang in the match with 74 runs. Ziggy batted well for 40 alongside Adam Rowland who hit 36. But it was Walid who became the hero to time his 65 not out with an infamous six to win it very late on. Que wild celebration!
Threes are off to Plumpton on Saturday
Four’s Battle but are Defeated at Felbridge. Div 7 Central
Skipper Mal was carrying injury concerns heading into this one so was sidelined. With Luke deputising he won the toss and elected to field. Cox and Reddy bowled well up top to no reward as Ben Vale (65 n.o.) anchored a good inns for the hosts. Our Skip made inroads three for 30 off his eight. However, with extra’s mounting (39 in total) Nomads couldn’t quite contain as Bridge enjoyed all their overs scoring 212 for 7.
Veteran campaigner Luke S got the team off to a great start scoring 30 up top. Danny scored a watchful 23 in the middle. The real story came from Sam Sowerby who kept his side in the hunt with a wonderful half century. However, wickets ran out as the hosts collected 30 points Nomads 11.
Mel said later on wattsapp ‘Well done 1s 2s and 3s shame we couldn’t make it a whitewash but we fought hard and will beat Felbridge next time!’ ‘Massive shout out to Sam who got an incredible 50, batting the house down. Charlie Dale for bowling so well on his mens debut and a gig welcome to Dishanth and Nandu who played their first game for the Nomads today!’
Our 4s can dust down and go again at home against Portslade on Saturday.
A great to our League campaign!
