Ones and U13s Super Sunday at the Nomads. 17/5/2026
Nomads produced clinical Cup performances as we progressed in the Sussex T20 Cup at Burgess Hill and enjoyed round 1 U13s ECB success on the South square. Dan Phillips and Max Thorne would have both enjoyed their day.
Banana Skin Avoided at St Johns.
Our ones were very professional from ball one in their tricky Sussex T20 first round match at St Johns today. Nav and Zayn opened with pace and accuracy as Hill stuttered to 20 odd without loss in 5 overs. Zayn clean bowled the opener and Archie took the other LBW. Hill never really got going as Matt Miller took three for 10 with his three overs.
A chase of just 77 was quickly put to bed with a power knock of 36 by Man of the Match Dan Phillips. The Champaign moment coming as Miller launched a huge six out of the ground.
Nomads have a rich pedigree in this competition and will know that the journey to Hove needs to start with that very first win. Nav said later that he was pleased with the overall performance and that it was job done.
Thanks to BH CC for hosting the day and best wishes for the season.
U13s Defeat a strong St Peters on the South
Nomads have an uncanny knack of producing exciting U13s and U15 teams who go far in this prestigious National Competition. The glittering Sussex finals at Blackstone is now just but a couple of rounds away.
Under Manager David Dale Nomads elected to bat under overcast skies and chilly temperatures. Charlie Thorne batted extremely well up top retiring with 30 to his name. Charlie Dale added urgency to the middle order with a 28 ball 30 (retired not out). Tobias Bidnell added a rapid 25 as we rested on 142 for 6 off the 20 allotted.
To their credit St Peters made it a nervy finish as Ahmad and Moyes both made 30 not out. But a wonder catch from keeper Whitmore and an efficient spell of 4 overs for 14 from Man of the Match Max Thorne were enough to take the game by 13 runs.
Huge congrats to both teams for producing a high-quality game for a sizable crowd watching on. We wish St Peters all the best going forward.
Nomads have made a brilliant start to their various 2026 Cup Competitions which bodes well as we head into the summer.
