Saturday brought an excellent return of 60 SCMG points and some wonderful performances along the way. There is a long ways to go in the Sussex League but come September we might look back and suggest 27th July was quite pivotal!

Before we get into the action I wanted to quickly focus in on the army of volunteers, officers and officials who keep the Nomads machine moving forward. They know who they are!  Even you Nigel who just turns up week in week out and works your magic on the keyboard. These guys are massive to the Nomad effort and it allows members the atmosphere to just get on with playing.

Ones Maintain 19 Sussex Prem Cushion with Worthing Win.

On a beautiful morning Nav decided to bat.  Nathan and Sam cashed in on the North Road to score a huge opening stand which took the game away from the bottom club.  However as Nav explains there is no easy game in the Sussex prem and Nomads had to show patience grit and determination to take the 10 poles. But we did it!

As another Saturday rolled round, the boys new it was time for another day of grit, determination and clinical ness.
No matter who you’re playing, when it comes to the Prem there is no such thing as an easy game. We knew we had to be on top of our games with no complacency to do the job against Worthing.
I won the toss and batted on a flat looking pitch. Scoring proved to be difficult early on however opener Topping and Poole dug in and showed great application whilst also punishing the bad ball.
With this mantra their partnership grew and grew and grew! Our scoring rate also ticked effortlessly through the gears. It truly was a masterclass of batting at the SCMG as our two openers brought up their respective centuries in one over. The foundation was set for a final 10 over burst of scoring before the declaration and Jonty was able to capitalise on this and put the finishing touches on the innings.
Pooley scored a chance less 120 and young Sam Topping banged his way to an unbeaten 160.
With 60 overs to pick up 10 wickets we knew we had to fight all the way to get the wickets of a strong Worthing batting line up.
Sure enough Worthing came out with intent on the flat pitch but credit to our guys for sticking in the fight and picking up breakthroughs at crucial times.
We all bowled as a unit with the spin duo of Dan Phillips and Baalaaj striking at key moments.
There was no better feeling when Baalaaj turned one through the gate to pick up the 10th Worthing wicket with 4 overs to spare.
Another 30 points and another week with that 19 point lead.

Despite Panic and 50 plus Extras Threes Pick up Season defining Win.  The margin 12 Runs!

All the season long bad things were in evidence on the South Square however a brilliant batting display got our Threes out of trouble. JUST !

Almost lost it towards the end. We just need to hold on to our nerves in the future and stick to plans.

Batting was top class today and scored exactly what the team wanted. Ziggy top knock mate of 94 ( truly deserved 💯 )

Chris 51 and GCB 81.
Rupert 24 and Adam R 35 top quality finishing.
310 was a massive score boys and the oppo had to to do all the hard work, we just needed to bowl in straight lines. After 20 overs they were only on 107 and from then they scored another 190 in the next 20. Yes we won the game in the end but conceding 190 in 20 overs is not acceptable as a team. We panicked nothing else, and exactly the same way panicked against hurst and B&H. We just need to hold nerve and carry on business the same way we start the innings.
Never the less George S huge congrats on your Hatrick and Felix M on your second spell you also took 2 important wickets and a brink of a 2nd hatrick of the day.
Also to mention an excellent spell of bowling from Lian and the way he held him self in the field and Chsrlie Davies for not bowling even 1 wide
