Final Push for ‘THE SEASON’
Season 2024 is building to an exciting crescendo around the SCMG where we are still fighting on no less than seven major fronts (see news story 25/7/24). That dark time for cricketers, Autumn and Winter is fast approaching however we have 6 short weeks of light to turn huge promise into the best season in our history!
Who wants to be a part of it?
With just four weeks left of the 2024 Sussex League remaining (last game 7th Sept) there is still a whopping 480 points up for grabs. 350 of those could well see us realise something very special indeed and put us front and centre of that show case awards night.
1st Team Go for Sussex Premier League Title
After yesterdays results (more to come on that) Nav and his squad have put themselves tantalising close to success. However, Three Bridges have emerged as the big danger just 17 points back. We face a hugely competitive Horsham on Saturday at the SCMG who would like nothing more than to dent our title tilt. We then go to Hastings against a team fighting for its life. That game might be its last hope of escaping the trap door. We then face EG at home and then Cuckfield on the road.

2s Fight for Div 2 Survival.
It’s a mark of how well our Twos have played that we still have a massive chance to escape the immediate trap door or that tricky play off on 22nd September. However, Eastbourne, who are just lurking 5 points behind have started to gather pace. Its going to be a huge sprint to the line and the Nomads will need victories. Perhaps at Heath on Saturday and then against Eastbourne at home on 24th.
My word its tight! 3rd from bottom seals a play off.
3s have put themselves in huge Trouble! Div 6
After two glorious back-to-back wins Faz and the boys had put themselves in a comfortable position however after yesterdays results its all gone a bit stinky. There are only 5 points separating Lindfield and the Nomads both now realistically gunning for 8th place and safety. Faz takes his team to top of the table Balcombe on Saturday and then take on a monster game against Lindfield at the SCMG. We really do need to win that one!
Marauding 4s Look for Div 6 Promotion.
Our 4s are a winning machine with 9 on the season. They have put themselves bang in the shop window for Division 6 promotion. However, they can only achieve this goal with say 3 wins from the 4 remaining. They entertain mid table Ansty on Saturday before going the St Peters on 24th.

Sussex T20 Cup Final 15th September 2024 v Three Bridges Hove.
Hugely exciting fixture in the Nomads calendar as Nomads once again invade Hove in the showcase final 6pm. I am sure every Nomad would like to be picked for the team and that’s great. We want Nav to have that selection headache leading up to the occasion.
Sussex T20 Plate Semi Final Fours at home to Ifield Sun 18th August 11.30 start
Mal can ‘visualise my team playing at Hove!’. All eyes will be on Fulking that morning as our 4s take on perhaps their biggest match for years. If we can put our best foot forward and win the Nomads will have not one but two representatives at the Hove showdown.
ECB National South Finals Sun 25th August Mays Bounty Basingstoke. 10am
This is massive!
Nomads will travel to Mays Bounty Basingstoke to compete in perhaps our biggest ever occasion. We play Hayes at 10am and if we win play Oundle or Bristol later in the day. Win out on the day and we head to the Show Case final at Derby CCC on 22nd September to play the northern Champions.
I totally get it that we have been fighting constantly for the past 14 weeks but from the above I hope nails down the ‘extreme possibilities’. Its time to put everything else to the back burner for the next 6 weeks and make Preston Nomads your whole world. We need everyone you to be fit, available and ready to give everything. We need every single one of you.
