Nomads Ease Into 3rd Round of Sussex T20 Cup at St John’s 30th April

Across our great county, club T20 was the order of the day as the Sussex T20 Cup took shape with the 1st and 2nd rounds to be played.  Our 1st team were drawn away to St Johns Park in Burgess Hill to face the winners of Div 1 BH and Div 4 Dome Mission CC.  That match started at mid-day and it turned into a real nail bitter.  Mission were chasing 130 to win and looked well on course with two overs to go. However, it all went wrong as no less than four wickets fell in the last over to send the hosts through.

In sunny, dry, mild conditions Nomads were asked to field.  Skipper Navin Patel lead by example and soon took two wickets in his opening spell.  Hill did generate some momentum into their inns with a couple of straight drives. However, Kash and then Owen took two quick wickets to puts Nomads back in charge.

The Champagne moment arrived as Owen swung one to leg for James McKemey to expertly whip off the bails for a world class stumping. It can be seen on the club members WhatsApp site.

Nav came back and promptly took two further wickets for not many.   Hill had to settle on 113 all out.

The reply turned into a very entertaining procession as Man of the Match Nathan Poole calmly steered Nomads into Round three with a commanding and unbeaten 75 runs.  A true lesson in uncomplicated and controlled T20 run chasing.

Our 1st team can now put Sussex T20 vibe on the back burner for a little while as they concentrate on getting ready for the Sussex Premier League opener next Saturday.

Many thanks to Burgess Hill CC for hosting the afternoon and looking after us.  (Very nice burgers on the grill).  Nomads wish you all the best for season.
