It’s the Penultimate Saturday of 2022. 27th August 2022
Lets Preview!
Season 2022 has gone around in a flash as we look to finish our Sussex League campaign with a bang over the next two Saturdays. Let’s go for eight wins from eight shall we!
Threes Take Centre Stage v Brighton 3s at the SCMG Div 7 1pm start 40 overs a side
In perhaps the most important 2022 Sussex League match of the season our Third team have a massive opportunity to take 2nd spot come 7pm. After a courageous win at Felbridge the league has taken shape to reveal just 12 points between the two sides. Palmers 1st team already look nailed on to win the title.
However, looking at the Brighton stats this isn’t going to be a walk in the park. They have picked up well over the past two Saturdays taking maximum points. It looks like batting is the key here as they happily chased down 234 at Dormansland with Holman, Hart, Pelling and Digby all scoring well. The previous week at home they chased 177 with ease.
Skipper Faisal has a talented and well pumped squad to choose from and this encounter should be a humdinger.
One message from me, team if your reading keep those extras to the bear minimum as I think it will be key!
Nav at the Nevill Sussex Prem. 11.30am start 50 overs a side.
1st team skipper Navin Patel will want his side to quickly bounce back from a disappointing home loss by champions elect Roffey at the SCMG. Mike Norris (124) and Matt Davies (86 not out) were too hot as the visitors racked up 301 runs off the allotted just three down. Rehan Afridi scored 33 in response, but the Nomads came up 143 light on the chase.
We thrashed the Bensons at home earlier in the season so that and the fact that they are fighting for their Premier status marks them out as being very dangerous tomorrow. Only a win will keep their slim chances alive.
Twos host Glynde in Div 3 Mid Table Battle. 12.30 start 45 overs a side
Our Twos brave and offensive promotion tilt came to a shuddering holt last week with a loss against Ifield despite a 64 from skipper James M. However, the squad will want to finish strongly and avenge an entertaining narrow defeat to these guys earlier in the season. Up until three weeks ago Glynde were in the promotion hunt themselves, but two straight losses have taken them out of the equation.
4s Visit Title Chasing Portslade at the Benfield Div 8 1pm start 40 overs a side
Any slight mathematical chances of staying in the division went last week when the 4s lost to Three Bridges at home. They go again this week playing for club pride against a very powerful Portslade team who will desperately looking for victory to perhaps top the table come 7pm.
The weather looks to be perfect for League cricket with dry sunny intervals and pleasing 22 degree temperatures. I am bowing to football tomorrow as the Hillians (BHTFC) are at Chatham which is a new ground for us. Please could the chat be routed through our normal channels as I will be watching on.
Good luck to all connections, lets use these final opportunities to end the league season on a massive high!
