Final Word to the Weekend!
We have seen news from Hastings and a brilliant read from Andy G about the 4th team already but we finalise the weekends goings on in this bulletin.
Good weekend for the 3s
We start with a very absorbing T20 Sussex Plate loss this afternoon at St Matthias. (University Grounds). In an explosive start Ziggy bowled their opener 1st ball creating wild celebration. He went on to finish the over very strongly. In fact the first three overs started very well for the Nomads. But slowly St Ms got a hold of the situation. Indeed their other opener and skipper Joel Sayers, in truth, took the game away when hitting four 6s on route to 79. Perhaps back to back sixes in the 16th over was the turning point of the contest. The hosts had to settle on 144 off the allotted. Ziggy the pick 4 overs 1 for 17.
In reply new Nomad members Hashim Riaz (37) and Mike Burney (42) batted superbly up top to form a very robust platform after 10 overs. With the game on a knife edge their Reuben Grahame came up with with brilliant figures of 18 for 2 off 4 overs to win the match.
3s beat Dormansland away 29th May George with 148!
Something had to give at Dormansland where both teams were nursing three straight losses. Nomads were always on top especially as George Close Brooks secured our first league ton of the season. He was in fine form scoring 148 off just 124 balls as the opener. Hashim scored 34, Khan 37 and Luke Appleton 47 in a run fest. A total of 290!
In reply Nomads were always on top with wickets spread around. The hosts got sorta close but in reality it was our day with 30 invaluable points secured.
Skipper David S was in good form today and you can see his full and frank interview on the group whatsapp. The main message was ‘the 3rds are going forward!
League Tons
The agonizing wait for our 1st 2021 League tons are over. George scored 148 at Dormansland while Mike scored 102 at the SCMG. We spoke to Mike today and his full interview can be found on the group Whatsapp site. He was very complimentary about our South pitch and he felt very welcomed to the club. If he keeps scoring tons then who knows which team he will end up in. We still need to catch up with George. A full interview to come. But if you are reading I personally send huge congrats to both players as for me its a real milestone in the season. Lets hope the Nomads go on to secure league tons week in week out from now on!
2nd Team Prove to be very competitive with Nomads Legend James McKemey but need our assistance!
Our second team are in the most competitive environment in the club. Sussex Division Two includes a number of big town 1st team clubs including Horsham, Mayfield and Burgess Hill. We were brilliant at Mayfield losing narrowly. The twos have also suffered 2 frustrating rained out games. Yesterday they ran into surprise package Bognor Regis at the SCMG. Some excellent batting from from Oliver G (33) and Ed S (33) saw us settle on a respectable 149 all out. To prove how competitive that league is Bognor chased down that total in double quick time.
Bowman says ‘keeping our 2nd team in Sussex 2 might be our biggest achievement this season. Whilst James wont want me to say this but any assistance in team selections would be very much appreciated!’
Well there you have it. A weekend of many highs where we have taken three league victories, secured two league tons and have got wickets. Hopefully its the start of something big where wins will flow over the coming weeks.
Well done Nomads but THE HARD WORK CONTINUES!
