Eddie’s 50 Shapes Trip to Blackstone. U15s March The On. 24/06/26
The whole club was holding its collective breath last evening as Nomads and Horsham were slugging it out like gladiators in a furnace. Both teams can be congratulated for producing a thriller on the north square. However, our U15s are making an exquisite habit of winning ECB Cup games. I think you will agree a nice habit to have!
Manager Ralph Scrase provides an excellent match report below but for me Eddie Spence deserves the MOM award for a patient and well-constructed unbeaten half century which left him drained. As wickets fell around him, he had to dig deep into his resources. We made 110 for 6 off the 20. Rupert Scutt made three great grabs behind the stumps including the winning moment. However, it was left to the skipper Harry to produce the champagne moment with one of those nonchalant one handed caught and bowled moments. The sort of thing you see at the T20 Blast at Hove!.
Our U15s now head to the glittering Sussex finals night at Blackstone on Friday 26th June against Worthing. We wish Ralph and the boys all our messages of good luck and warmest regards. Go win it! Your media guru for the evening will be George Close Brooks, follow club platforms for more.
Lastly huge thanks to our ground staff who produced a brilliant strip and outfield. The boys were honoured to be playing on the front square. It looked amazing out there. And to Phil for once again looking after us in Laingers Bar.
Take it away Ralph
Hi team –
Wow!
We welcomed Horsham for the ECB semi final in very hot conditions, luckily winning the toss and batting first. Regular wickets were taken as Horsham excelled in the field with 4 quality catches. At the other end, Eddie stood firm, steadily accumulating runs (50r*), while watching his batting partners change opposite him. Defending the target of 110 was never going to be easy, but our bowlers started well with with 3 quick wickets before the first drinks break, then another soon after confirmed we were in the game. Amazing work in the field, with spectacular catches and thrilling run-outs brought the oppo needing 3 runs from the last over. An edge caught behind, cue wild celebrations and the final at Blackstone on Friday. Congrats to all, especially Eddie with a touch of heat stroke after his innings. The final is on Pitchero, so please mark availability ASAP. Team announced tonight.
