Our Junior Section have been front and centre of the Sussex scene over the past couple of months and its been rather busy! Many thanks to Rosalind and the Team Managers for their round up as at mid June 2023. (see below)
Whilst all our Juniors are very important to us it has to be the U13s and U15s ECB Cup exploits that grab the headlines. Followers on here will fully appreciate that we have done extremely well over the past few seasons. Its that time of the year again when our two teams will step under the spotlight!
U13s travel to Balcombe CC on Wed 21st June (6pm start) and the U15s will be at home on Sunday 18th against Middleton 3pm start. The winners will be at the gala Sussex finals nite at Blackstone on Friday 23rd June 2023. All support welcome !!
Juniors in Review !
There are nearly 170 junior boys and girls all training and playing for Nomads in this 2023 season. Here is a summary of their progress to date from their respective managers.
The Boys
The PNCC U9 mixed team has had a really strong first half of the season and have yet to drop a match! It’s been wonderful to watch boys and girls from U7’s through to U9’s really grow as a team, and develop as cricketers. Special thanks to the parents, umpires and scorers for keeping the team in top condition!
Ben Poate
Our merry band of U10s (and quite a few U9s and even U8s) have made a great start to the season winning 4 out of our 5 matches. Our games have been full of energy and fun, and the progression in ability of all the players has been amazing to see.
David Dale
A slow start to the outdoor season for the U11s – with more then 20 players turning out – but two good victories in the last two games. The boys are playing at a tournament in Sevenoaks in July which will be a good test of their progress.
George Close-Brooks
The U12s have played 3 games and we’ve won all three. Team morale is high and we are joint top of the league. School commitments have meant various opportunities for U11s, who have stepped up magnificently and are comfortable at this level.
Ralph Scrase
The U13s have had a strong start to the season with a good turnout in this age group, fielding two teams playing in div 1 and 2 respectively. The A team are through to the semi finals of the ECB cup, quarter finals of the league cup and are currently 2nd in div 1. B team are 4th in div 2 and have introduced a number of new players into the U13 ranks at Nomads.
Huw Cahill
For the U14s availability has been a challenge due to school commitments. However this has given opportunities to others including several U13s who stepped up in our last game to save the day with valuable runs. So far 3 wins and 2 defeats. Everyone is getting to bowl so the team spirit is excellent.
Gary Hector
Chalk and cheese for the U15s. Some fantastic play has seen us beat Three Bridges in the ECB Cup quarter final. We play Middleton CC in a home semi-final. We have lost both league games where we prioritise game time experience for a squad of 20 players. The squad are enjoying their cricket and learning all the time.

U16-U18
Due to GCSE and A levels exams the U16 league has not commenced yet. With no league at U18 , the U18s first outing will be in Summer festival.
The Girls
The U11 girls have steadily improved throughout the season. Some of the more experienced girls have helped bring the newer players on. Encouragement and laughs have been heard throughout the training and matches.
Simon Murie
The U13 girls have contributed 3 players each week to Hurstpierpoint CC to give a rotating selection of girls the opportunity to play league fixtures. Numbers have increased as the season has progressed so hopefully a PNCC team can be fielded next year.
Sarah Corney
The U15 girls have played 4, won 4 with some fantastic team performances. They’ve shown strength in all cricketing aspects and played with great positivity. It has been fantastic to include some of the younger girls too who have added to the squad.
