Classy Nomads U13s Overpower Much Fancied Bromley Gladiators.  ECB Regionals SCMG 24th July.

Kent U13s ECB Cup champions travel south to be with us on Sunday morning for a 10am start on the South Pitch.  The weather and conditions were perfect for the T20 occasion as the SCMG and South Downs looked their Sunday best.  It was quite emotional walking onto the grounds but that was just the start.  Nomads win toss and bat!

Charlie Davies and skipper Adam Ibrahim opened with calm assurance and made perfect start of 41 for the 1st wicket.  It wasn’t a slog fest but an inns of proper cricket shots and good running between the wickets.  Rudy Northcott did beef up the rate and built on a solid platform to score a very quick 32 (retired) including a towering final straight six.  Tate Hector put the icing on a promising position with 30 not out including 3 boundaries.  I think the lads were pretty happy with 129 for 5 off the allotted.

Drinks served.

The writer of this piece is all over catches win matches!   The Nomads were simply superb in this category as grabs were taken all over the SCMG.  As fast as Charlie (5 for not much)  and Adam (4 for not much)  were sending down great deliveries the Gladiators were hitting them in the air.  No less than 6 match winning catches were made.   The champagne moment  came when Bromley opener Leo Selvey-Clinton hoisted one high to the boundary rope only for Ted Hutchinson to make a stunning pouch to the delirium of his on rushing teammates.   Bromley all out for 42.

Manager Phil Standen said later ‘I am very proud of the lads, we batted and fielded very well.  Paul please could we have a coach on Wednesday?’  Full interview can be seen on the club wattsapp group.  We also caught with skipper Adam on the whattsapp site.  He seems to be playing cricket 24/7 right now!!

Bowman says ‘many thanks to Bromley U13s for travelling to be with us on Sunday morning, good luck for the remainder of 2022. Also a huge thanks to Zuni for looking after the score book, Zuni really is involved with cricket 24/7!.   My Man of the Match award goes to Charlie Davies again you can see his interview on the whattsapp site.

I wanted to send a message to Nomads Director of Youth Cricket Navin Patel ‘Nav, what ever your doing with the Youth Section keep doing it.  We are on fire!!!

Having seen the U13s and U15s at close quarters this season we have a bunch of serious young cricketers on our hands. Let’s keep them engaged and striving towards new goals and challenges. As we know there has never been a better time for Sussex youngsters to go on to Sussex CCC honours and perhaps beyond’

The squad have now progressed to the ultra-exciting ECB Regional Semi Final and Finals day this year held at Teddington CC (South West London) from 10am on Wednesday 27th July 2022.  We will be playing Berkshire Champions Sonning CC (Near Reading).  The other semi is between Hampstead and Harold Wood.  The final to take place later in the day.   Win that and the country is our oyster!

We shall be travelling to Teddington and will be bringing this exciting occasion live to whattsapp and the club twitter site.  Stay tuned!

Good luck to all U13s connections!   Cobo
