Chris Borsoi Steers Threes to Big Away Win 28th May 2022
There was no hint of the run fest to come early in the match against Cuckfield away yesterday. The Nomad Threes had read the memo and were bowling and fielding like demons for an hour!
Ziggy 2 for 23 and Imran 2 for 32 started the game very brightly as Jamie made a very smart slip catch. The hosts may have been ruing the decision to bat as the score fell to 47 for 5. However, things started to change as Dan Turner (80) and Sam Candfield (70 not out) made their presence felt with the bat. Both batters seem to be very comfortable in hitting the bad balls to the fence.
With the aid of several dripped catches and no less than 47 extra’s Cuckfield went on to make the impressive score of 278 for 7 off the allocated 40 overs.
At the break Fas said to me that he was very confident in the batting line up!
I always believe that 50 with out loss is a great start at any format and level. So, you can tell I was delighted when Kam (38) and Michael (45) went to 100 with out loss. Perhaps the best opening stand from the Nomads thus far this season? There was still much work to do when Chris made his way to the crease at number 4. He and Jamie Patrick (33) calmly got their eye in and started to motor. Chris went on to score 17 boundaries and passed the hundred mark as Nomads closed in for a dramatic win. As the gloom gathered Nomads, with youngsters Zig (18 no) and Sam at the crease, needed 4 off the last over. Victory was ours !!!
Faisal said later ‘I am very happy with the win, Chris was fantastic with bat and ball today. There are things to work on for sure and we will be training hard this week with our fielding and bowling. We want promotion so will be looking for more wins!’
Chris said ‘ I am very pleased to get my first ton for the Nomads. We gave away too many runs in the field, and it was a bigger score to chase than it should have been. Michael and Kam gave us a decent platform which was pretty key. It was pleasing to chase that total down’
Bowman said ‘ many thanks to Cuckfield for hosting and good luck for the rest of the season. Cracking game of cricket to watch! Huge congrats to the three’s for a wonderful batting display in a result which throws down a serious marker in Sussex Div 7. Of course, there is work to do in the field and tidying up that extra’s column. Enjoy the win boys and then get ready for next Saturday. Chris gets my Man of The Match award for his immaculate ton’
