Best Weekend of 2022 For the Nomads as Muadh Stars in T20.  13th and 14th August.

Published On: August 15, 2022Categories: News and Reports

When it’s your day anything is possible as Muadh Khan demonstrated in the Sussex T20 Trophy semi-final at the SCMG yesterday.  In four short overs he had completed a demolition of the Eastbourne engine room on route to 7 for 11 as our Two’s, skippered by Nomads legend James McKemey joined the Ones for the showcase finals at Hove on 4th September 22. The weekend offered so much more as our Chairman Paul Hird now explains.

Well, that was a week.

The start of the week saw the U13’s at Fulking commencing their campaign for more success and they didn’t disappoint winning all games and getting to the final. Unfortunately, they got edged on the day by a good Three Bridges side. Well done to all of the team on an excellent performance.

The U16’s won there league game and are straight back in action this week in the festival playing at home today and Tuesday, we wish them much success.

On to Saturday and 3 wins out of four was a good performance especially against top opposition. The 1sts despatched East Grinstead in style, well done to the “old timer” Kash sponsored by Cavandish for 90no and a 4 for.

The 2’s overcame top of the table Crowhurst Park which moves them up the table and in sight of a the leaders.

Well done to the 4th’s on a good run chase at Streat and Westmeston.

The 3rds were second best  in their game but I know Faisal and his team will reset and go again next weekend.

Onto Sunday and we hosted 4 semi-finals at Nomads, never have I seen the car park so full.

It was great to see and our own mighty 2nd XI were in action on the North Ground and batting first put on 128 on a wicket that was doing a bit, the skipper playing a big role in the death overs to see us through to a competitive total. Eastbourne got a good start, but a couple of wickets slowed them down and they started to struggle and needed 21 off the last over. Muadh, our hero took 3 wickets in 4 balls and 7 ( yes seven!!) in the match.

So off we go to Hove on September 4th, both 1st and 2nd XI’s in action on the big stage. Dare I remind everyone what happened last time we had both teams in the finals.

Lastly , I would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped make the day happen, to Phil and Maggie in the bar ( we took over £1k behind the bar) to the Captains/team getting the lines painted on Saturday evening for the Sunday games and the volunteers during the week to get new wickets watered, rolled and prepared; many thanks to all of you.

See you at Hove!

Paul Hird  Chairman. 15th Aug 2022

Bowman Says ‘huge congrats to all you Nomads on a cracking week. There were some excellent individual performances along the way but as a collective both off and on the field we have demonstrated why this club is the best in Sussex and perhaps in the SE region. As we pile through the ‘business end’ the Nomads have given themselves some huge opportunities to chase down silverware and league honors. Our Ones Sussex Prem Title Retention bid might be over but the lads are coming into sparkling form. Nav has his squad fired up for the run in. James M has been fantastic for the 2s very much leading from the front. The squad have three massive league games to come and wins will see them to Division 3 glory. Faisal has been a brilliant and enthusiastic Threes captain who is not letting a few penalty points derail a wonderful season. With three games to go there are huge chances to take promotion. Stephen if you are reading I am sure the whole club will back up my full congrats on your win at Streat. Its been a tough one, but you have always been positive and supportive of your squad. Hopefully you can use it as a springboard for the run in.

Navin Patel, Director of Youth Cricket is having a stella season as our Youth Section continues to produce cricketers of the highest quality. Not only at ‘year level’ many are starring for our Senior teams over the weekend. We shall bring you a season round up later in the year.

As Paul eludes to the upcoming highlight is our trip to Hove on 4th September for the Sussex T20 Cup and Trophy Finals. I will tell you what happened the last time WE WON THEM BOTH !!!

Lets Go Nomads and Finish 2022 on a Massive High!

Cobo 15th August 2022.
