By all accounts there is going to be a right old gale blowing through our region from mid-morning all through the afternoon. There is no guarantee of dry weather either but the signs are there of a good chance of sunny intervals. Hopefully match day will be remembered for some excellent Nomad victories other than the climate.
Dan Will Aim for Revenge as Cuckfield Travel. 11.30 start SCMG Sussex Prem
On the 8th of June a pulsating match in Mid Sussex was eventually won by a towering six off the last ball. It was jubilation for Cuckfield and their fans, disappointment for Nomad connections.
More recently Cuckfield have been on a bit of a poor run losing to Three Bridges away on 13th July and perhaps even more worrying a loss against Eastbourne at home last Saturday. Marcos Campopiano scored a 150 ball ton for the hosts as they amounted a nice score of 241 off 28 overs. In reply Johnson 88 and Sussex hopeful Scott Lenham (141 not out) chased that down with ease. Hayward going for 72 runs off 11 overs. That result has seen Cuckfield now looking over their shoulders in third from bottom.
As for our 1st team there is still a mathematical chance of winning the Sussex Premier League, but this is must win territory.
1st team to Prevail!
Polegrove Calling for Ed and his Team
Ed takes his team east to Bexhill (12.30 start) for a critical game in Sussex Division 3. We are top and Bexhill are 2nd.
Enough said and it will be the match of the day.
Champions Elect by tea time!
David and the Threes are at home to Ansty 1pm start Sussex div 5
On 8th June, despite six wickets for skipper David, Nomads lost a tense game at Ansty. Since then they have gone on a very rocky patch only picking up one win in seven. In the last match Barcombe scored 202 for 6 but Ansty, at home, could only muster 194 all out. It must have felt like a hammer blow. That poor run has seen them slump into the relegation zone.
Our Thirds still need to find some consistency over the remaining few weeks. Their survival in Sussex Div 5, barring a disaster, is pretty much guaranteed but things will look a lot more comfortable if they can prevail this week end.
Thirds to sneak home!
Justin makes short hop to Horsdean St Matthias CC 2s 1pm start Sussex div 8
On June 8th an F Garth five for was enough for our 4s to take victory against St Matthias. That was our 1st win of the season. Since then St Matthias seem to have had problems with the bat, their last three inns 60 ao 179 for 9 and 115 ao. This problem has led to a series of recent losses.
Our 4th team have been a real roll of late winning two matches on the spin. We are now, although not mathematically safe, in a more comfortable league situation. Justin said last week ‘ we will need to keep this momentum going until the end of the season’
Good times to roll for Justin and his Squad
There it is, good luck to all Nomad connections as we face not only some worthy opposition’s but also a very windy outlook. Lets hope to concur that and pick up our 2nd clean sweep of the season.
Please watch our for social media updates though the morning in particular from the match of the day at Polegrove.
