Eastbourne, Horsted Keynes and a T20 at Rottingdean

There is a lot of great cricket to look forward to this weekend both at the SCMG and away.  Our 1st team will be looking to maintain excellent momentum while the two’s and four’s will be looking to shrug off recent reversals.  On Sunday its all the fun of the fair as T20 cricket hits the menu.  Our big hitting 1st teamers will be looking forward to smashing some big sixes at Rottingdean.

Let’s get to it!

Eastbourne CC v Nomads 1st team  Saffrons  from 11.30am  50/50.

There were some perplexed looks and comments from all around the County last Saturday evening when news came in that Brighton and Hove had bowled the Eastbourne CC 1st team out for 22 runs.  Personally, it was an unbelievable score so had to check play cricket for evidence.

Anyway, that isn’t the Eastbourne that we all know and love. These guys are normally very competitive and proud to wear the shirt so in this instance I am going to put that down to a one off series of mis fortunes never to be repeated.   It’s with a certainty that Eastbourne will be looking for a massive reaction on Saturday both in form and club pride. And in my book that stands them out as very dangerous opponents especially at the Saffrons.

This will not have escaped our 1st team skipper Dan Phillips who will overseen nets this evening at the SCMG.  Hopefully he would have told his troops not to underestimate Eastbourne on Saturday (11.30 start 50/50).  As always, we shall need to be at our very best and giving it 100% to bring the points back to Fulking.

This will be the feature match of the weekend so please stand by for twitter and whatsapp updates from 9am.

Nomads to face a backlash!

Nomads 2s v Eastbourne 2s   SCMG   North Square   12.30   45/45

Our 2nd Team will be looking towards a huge improvement with the bat on Saturday after Rye disappointments.  They have the ideal opportunity on home soil batting on a road.   Our visitors have struggled in both their league matches so it’s a wonderful opportunity to bounce right back and head up the table.

Nomads to take the points.

Nomads 4th team v Horsted Keynes   Division 8   40/40  1.30pm start

Justin and his battle-weary troops will be looking to get their season up and running with a positive result on our gorgeous south lawn.  There is no secret that its been a very tough opening for our 4th team but renewed availability will hopefully do the trick.   However, Keynes travel to the SCMG in great heart with two wins under their belt.  Opener Graham James looks in fine nick as do bowlers Harvey James, Giles Emmerson and Tom Robinson who take wickets for fun.   It seems they have match winners running though the side.

Justin to squeeze his team over the line.

No fixture for the 3rd team.

Nomads 1st team v either Rottingdean or Keymer at Rottingdean Sun 19th  3.30pm  T20 Cup

There wont be a lot to preview in this match but there could be bundles of exciting cricket and fun on display.  I know that Dan loves T20 cricket and it’s a dead cert that most of the boys will be looking forward to playing in this game.  Make sure we get a lot of fans over the Rottingdean.

Dan to get the T20 vibe up and running with a victory.

In Youth Team news our U14s won a tight game at St James while the U12s staved off pressure from Lewes P to notch an outstanding win.   As these notes are being penned our U13s are in battle at Keymar.  The hosts have posted just over 100.   The press officer will be trying to get to the U10s game (SCMG Sat 9.30am).   If you see me, please come say hi.

Ok there you have it.  Oh just one more thing.   Please don’t forget our Junior World Cup Day at the SCMG on 9th June from 10am.  Its sure to be an exciting and fun day out for all budding young cricketers (up to age of 12) and parents. HOW FAST CAN YOU BOWL!!!???

Please keep tuned to all club media sites for all the action, pics, interviews and results from home and away.  Then watch out for a full review here early next week.
