League Cricket Starts in Earnest.

Four sparkling matches 4th May

Evening Nomads, after weeks of indoor, outdoor nets and friendlies our League campaigns start tomorrow and it’s a certainty that some of you might not be able to sleep.  We take a peek at the excitement to come.

Dan has a Tough Assignment at EG.  11.30am  50 over game

Playing East Grinstead CC at any stage especially at their Saint Hill home facility is always competitive.  They play an aggressive high tempo game in all disciplines. That includes full on banter in the field.  However our first team will be in confident mood following an imperious win in the ECB cup last Sunday.  Skipper Dan Phillips scored an undefeated ton while Stuart Faith and Dom Shepheard took seven wickets between them.   Our hosts must have been very disappointed at being dumped out of the ECB by Holmesdale.  Cup legend Will Adkin scored 69 but the team only managed 184 off 40 overs.

If Dan and the team are on their A game there is no reason why Nomads can’t be celebrating.

Two’s to grace North Square against Seaford CC  12.30 start

Our second team kick off their Division 3 campaign against Seaford CC at the SCMG.  Our visitors played out a nice friendly last week which they won.  Zak Hearsey bowled well  2 for 25 and Pat McCaughan scored 71 opening up.   Our boys haven’t had a run out so they will need to hit the ground running.  We have legends running through the team including keeper James Mc, Ollie Gatts, Rigger and Taron (fresh from his half century for the 3s)

Twos to get a winning start.

Threes Go to Mid Sussex Balcombe without skipper.  1 pm start

After a losing start to their Division 5 campaign last Saturday our three’s need to consolidate when playing Balcombe away.  But its going to be tough without skipper David Symes who suffered a knee injury.  However, we send an experienced 11 with Jules Hunt leading the charge up front.  On that small outfield and quick track there is no reason why we can’t score a massive amount of runs.

This one could be too close to call but you feel we need to find top gear to win.

Justin on the South Lawn.  Three Bridges 3s  1pm start

Our 4th team open their division 8 campaign on our gorgeous south square.  It’s a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon.   I am not to sure of the team, but it can be revealed that a real club legend is turning out.  Andy Garth if you are reading you are not getting any younger. Enjoy your day but be careful out there.

Our 4ths to take all the points on home soil.

Good luck to all our Youth Teams who are in action over the next few days.  Special mention to our U14s who have a difficult assignment at the Nevil against Brighton 7th May . Boys, club pride is up for grabs here.  Also good luck to all our fantasy teams.  Loads of points up for grabs this weekend.

Please follow all the action on twitter and whatsapp where the main game will come from EG.  Full report early next week.

Enjoy your day     Cobo
