ECB Cup and 3rd Team Preview

In the 1st of our weekly previews/reviews of the action around the SCMG please take your hats off to our U15s who got their campaign off to the flyer with a good win against Southwick on 22nd April.  There is sure to be a lot more of that to come from our youth teams over the coming weeks.

Perhaps one of the more important occasions of a season comes with the 1st round of the ECB National Cup (40 over Comp). Unfortunately, with it being so early it can easily catch out even the most senior of clubs. However that isn’t lost on our new 1st Team skipper Dan Phillips who told me ‘ it’s a competition that’s very key to our season and we shall be striving to get the best team out on Sunday afternoon and the plan is to go deep!’  If Nomads can get past a very tricky encounter against Sussex  side Lindfield on Sunday 28th April 1pm start who knows where it could take us.  One thing is for sure Dan and the squad would appreciate all the support we can give them at home.  Please try to get to Fulking to cheer the boy’s home.  As with any event so early in the season weather permitting!

On Saturday 27th April our 3rd team under the captaincy of David Symes make an intriguing trip to Ifield Green (1pm Start weather permitting) to start their Sussex league Division 5 campaign. He said ‘there is a real buzz around the club with new players coming in for all teams.  We are looking forward to opening up against Ifield but its going to be a tough encounter’  As to striving for promotion ‘ of course we want that!’  See David’s full interview on twitter.

It’s a certainty that this week end won’t be one of the best in terms of weather this season but its very important that we get things right on the pitch.

Good luck to all Nomads who are participating this weekend and watch out for a full report on the ECB game here early next week and keep up to date on the club twitter site.

Cobo.  Ps I will be at Lords on Saturday following the Sharks.
