Early Season Welcome Day a Huge Success.

Under perfect sunny skies around 100 Preston Nomads made our Welcome Day a huge success at the Spen Cama Memorial Ground ( SCMG).  In the morning, our Director of Junior Cricket, Chris Fletcher, helped by Nav Patel, Harrison  Ward, Will Collard, Tom Hutchinson, Rob Kusel and Louis Venter, put our Ninja Nomads through their paces with five cricketing challenges, from fielding to hitting sixes! Plenty of fun was had and there was also a competitive vibe going down, with everyone enjoying the event.

A myriad of jobs were also tackled from painting, cleaning up and erecting a batting cage. Perhaps the most important job was hanging the sponsors banners on the North Square.  On that note we welcome all our sponsors to season 2019. We hope that you have some fun over the coming months and please make sure to come down and enjoy the action on offer.

Ahead of a competitive club T20 match, our President, Chris Bidwell, Chairman Jason Robinson and Andy Smith all addressed the assembled teams and spectators. Perhaps the most poignant moment was when Andy asked for a minute’s silence for the late David Laing.  David was a real legend at Nomads and the silence was well respected.  Chris gave out some facts and figures to the running of the club, while Jason sent out a huge message of welcome to all.  Please watch out for clips coming to the club Twitter site soon.

You will have to ask skippers Dan or Owen as to how the match panned out.  It was sure to have been very competitive indeed on our back square.  In one over I witnessed the ball was sent into the fields no less than three times!

A brilliant day for the club ahead of competitive cricket for our adults next weekend.  We draw your attention to our important EBC Cup 1st Round at home on Sunday against Lindfield 1pm start.  Any support will be greatly appreciated by 1st team skipper Dan and the squad.
