Under 13s Beat Brighton in Excellent Match   SCMG  9/5/2019

Our U13s, under the guidance of manager Julian Musto, completed a hat trick of early season victories in a close match at rainy Fulking last evening.  It’s easy to see that Julian has his team well balanced with players prepared to do the simple things well and consistently.

Nomads batted first against a well drilled and skilful Brighton side.  The visitors had the worst of the weather, fielding and bowling in light rain for most of the inns.  Felix and Kai were the standout bowlers as wickets were hard to come by.   Against some energetic fielding our Felix, Henry, Luke and skipper Archie made good scores as Nomads posted 136 for 1 off 16 overs.

Brighton got off to a slow start, but Will and Freddie stepped up the pace.  In an exciting run chase Nomads had a few nervous moments especially when the score went past 100 with 15 balls to come.  However, death bowlers Ziggy and Archie keep things very tight to land the spoils and bragging rights.

Skipper Archie, my man of the match, said after ‘ I thought we played ok and our bowlers did well at the end, we are pleased with the result but there are some challenging games to come which we hope to win’

Please note that the lads were meant to be in ECB action on Sunday however the opposition has conceded. We shall bring you news of the 2nd round once to hand. Meantime the boys are back in league action on 16th May at Keymer.
