Preston Nomads Cricket Club was a founder member of the Sussex Cricket League in 1971, the 1st XI winning the Championship in the League's inaugural year, again in 1982, 1988, 2006, 2008 and most recently retaining the title in 2009. In recent years they have also won The Sussex Cup final in 2004 and were winners of the 20:20 Cup in 2008 and 2009.

The 2nd XI were champions of its League in 1977, 1997 and 2005 and won the Sussex League Cup in 2007.

The Club 3rd XI won the Sussex League title in 1981 and 1986, prior to the disbandment of that Division. The 3rd XI now play in the HJ Stoner Mid Sussex League Division 1 and were Champions in 1997 and 2005.

Our 4th XI were founded in 2005 and won the Sally Miller Trophy in their first year. They play in the HJ Stoner Mid Sussex League Division 2.

Nomads have a vibrant colts section and have run a girls' section and commenced operation of a fully fledged women's side in 2009.

The Club was founded in Brighton, in 1927 by our late President, Spen Cama and moved to its present ground just to the north of Brighton, in 1937. The ground is one of the most picturesque in the country, enjoying spectacular views of the famous Devils Dyke and the South Downs.

Most of the players live in the Brighton and Hove area and we enjoy close cooperation with the Sussex County Cricket Club and the Sussex Cricket Board.

We are particularly proud of our Colts Section, which boasts over 170 boys and girls from the age of 6 to 16 years.

Playing Opportunities

Preston Nomads Cricket Club runs 4 men's Saturday League teams and 1 on Sundays.

The 1st XI plays in the Premier Division of the Sussex Cricket League, with the 2nd XI playing in the League's 2nd XI 1st Division. The 3rd XI plays in the H.J.Stoner Mid Sussex League Division 1, with the 4th XI playing in Division 2.

The Club is always keen to extend a warm welcome to new players, who can be sure of excellent Club facilities, extensive practice arrangements and a playing strength with a fine sporting tradition. Every year we sponsor an overseas player who provides coaching within the Club, under the direction of Steve Gatting, our Director of Cricket & Coaching.
